Angel Oak

Angel Oak South Carolina

This Southern live oak is approximately 1500 years old and what’s even more amazing is that it’s still alive. It has survived hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and even human interference. It’s located in Angel Oak Park, South Carolina.

Dali Atomicus by Philippe Halsman

\"Dali Atomicus\" by Philippe Halsman on Flickr

And something to note – you could do this in photoshop now easily but Halsman did not – this was shot live. It took 26 tries to get it over five hours – Halsman counted to four, Dali leapt, 3 assistants threw the cats, one threw the water from a bucket and Halsman’s wife held the chair. Its all done in the camera.

Wordpress update

Just updated Wordpress to newest version and after small problems everything seems to be working. If you notice something not working or some sort of errors, let me know and I’ll try to fix it. That’s all for now.

Amazing Packing Tape Art by Mark Khaisman

These look almost unreal, like they were created with computer but instead they are made by applying translucent brown packing tape on clear plastic panels.
It’s amazing what talented people are able to do with so basic tools.

Artist Statement
My main motivation is my love for classics. The images are archetypes derived from the cultural heritage: art, architecture, movies. I am trying to be faithful to the source, but in the process of interpretation all kinds of things happen. The reason is submerged in the shadows, the purpose is absorbed by the light, the cultural icon has become the personal experience.
